Grace across China NOW
“I thank God for Western missionaries,” a woman who lives in the Gracetown area told one of our Bible institute professors. He visited Gracetown while traveling in China for 316NOW.
She is part of an ethnic Chinese community that traces its Christian roots back a century. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, European missionaries settled in this area. Among them were Sam Pollard and James Fraser. They left England to spend the rest of their lives sharing the gospel in this area of China.
A wave of Presbyterian missionaries arrived in the late 1930s to carry on the work of Pollard and Fraser. Life in China during those years was dangerous and often deadly. Japan conquered and occupied China from 1937 to1945. Yet for these missionaries introducing souls to Jesus was more compelling than the threat to life.
“I thank God for Western missionaries,” our friend said. “Without them we would still be bowing down to stone.”
“And I am thankful for you,” she added.
316NOW is humbled to be included with the brave Christians who, in prior generations, left behind their families and risked their lives to win Chinese souls for Jesus.
You also stand with those missionaries to China. Your prayer support and your financial support make our gospel-outreach possible. The ministry that we have written to you about in our Good News emails is your ministry. For that we thank you.
Join us as we end this year singing our Savior’s praises. Join us as we look forward to seeing his faithfulness continue to pour out on China in 2018.
Hail the Heav'nly Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings,
Ris'n with healing in his wings.
Mild he lays his glory by,
Born that we no more may die,
Born to raise us from the earth,
Born to give us second birth.
Hark! The herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King!” Amen!
