DEVOTION// The test is positive
The words hit like a ton of bricks: "The test is positive." All of a sudden your world is turned upside down. It is as though somehow you have been ripped from your comfortable world and dropped into the middle of a maze.
Tall walls surround you. Dark corridors greet your every turn. "How am I going to get out of this trap of life?" you think. Which way is the way out – the way of help and hope?
Grace is positive
Jesus, your Savior, does not want you to be crushed or lost by the words, "The test is positive." While the temptation might be to despair or become bitter with life, Jesus assures you that "he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it" (1 Corinthians 10:13b).
Jesus has already provided the way out of the greatest curse - sin. Through his life and death he has given you forgiveness. Now he assures you that he will support you in the struggle that lies ahead. He is the source of strength to bring you through this life to the joys of a heavenly home.
Strength is positive
Confidently know that Jesus has the power to lift this illness from you. If that is not his will, allow him to support and strengthen you spiritually through his Word. He will provide "a way out." He will strengthen you so "you can stand up under it." This is his promise to you.
Now you have the opportunity to amaze people. Perhaps others will think you will be lost by this news. As Jesus strengthens you, you will give an awesome testimony. Your life will say, "My Savior does provide a way out!"
