NEWS// Internet court

On August 18, 2017 China launched its first cyber court. This court specializes in handling internet-related cases in the e-commerce hub of Hangzhou (Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province).

The Internet Court in will handle cases such as online trade disputes, including copyrights, purchases, defamation, contracts, and loans. The court accepts filings electronically and tries cases via live stream.

Hangzhou was chosen because it is the home of many internet companies, including Alibaba. (Alibaba is similar to, but larger than, Amazon.) In recent years, the city has seen a surge of e-commerce related cases.
