MINISTRY//Special friends
How special would a friend have to be for you to prompt you to travel more than 150 miles to visit with her? How much would that friend mean to you for you to host a meal with 20 guests in your friend’s honor, even though you don’t know most of those people? Finally, how treasured would that friend have to be for you to add to those costs the cost of staying overnight.
You probably wouldn’t do that except for a very close friend.
Grateful for close Chinese friends
Last month when we had teachers traveling in China, that is what happened. One of our students was so appreciative of the instruction she is receiving from 316NOW, that she traveled over 150 miles – by public transportation -- to meet her instructor in person.
One of our travelers, the wife of a pastor who teaches for us, also leads some online classes for 316NOW (see the note below). She writes, “When it was time for dinner, our translator introduced me to Sister Xun. She is one of my web students. She traveled by bus to meet me/us and to thank us for the teaching over Skype. She paid for the dinner with about 20 people in attendance. Tomorrow she will return to home.”
Grateful for proclaiming “grace across China NOW”
Like this woman, many of our students are remarkably grateful for our Bible institute. We are grateful that the Spirit is using us to help them grow spiritually. We are even more grateful that, through our students, grace is reaching more souls in China.
Note: All of our Bible institute courses on books of the Bible, theology, and pastoral practice are taught by seminary trained men. But several of our classes, Bible studies for women, are led by American women who are part of our faith fellowship.
