MINISTRY//A journey from Buddhism

Wang Yong is one of 316NOW’s Bible institute students.

No answers seen

He served in a Buddhist temple for over 20 years. His brother founded the temple where Wang Yong worked and continues to hold high rank as a Buddhist monk.

Little by little over Wang Yong’s years as a Buddhist, he realized that his temple offered people no solid hope for life or for eternity. He came to understand that his temple had developed into a money-making business. He recognized that the monks at his temple had no idea how to provide the blessings pilgrims sought at his temple. He sought out better answers to life than he found in Buddhism.

Come and see

At the end of his wandering, the Spirit directed the course of his life so he was introduced him to Anne, another one of 316NOW’s students. She shared her faith in Jesus with him. But Wang Yong wasn’t convinced Christianity offered an improvement over what he knew. Anne invited him to take a basic class with 316NOW. She said to him, like Philip in John 1, “Come and see.”

Grace is seen

Before Wang Yong enrolled in our classes, he interviewed with our dean of students. He was impressed. He said, “What kind of blessing is this? The pastor in the United States does not dislike an unworthy person like me and takes time to help me personally.”

Wang Yong is now taking a biblical study course with our online Bible institute.
