MINISTRY//COVID-19 lessons
In the United States, churches are scrambling for ways to meet the spiritual needs of their members while we live under the restrictions of COVID-19.
Churches in China are two months ahead of us in adapting to these changes. Among the Christians 316NOW works with, we have heard of these approaches.
We have adjusted the way we worship. People are not allowed to gather in groups for any reason. We have begun offering online worship services.
I used to help lead worship once a month. Now because we have online worship, I help out every week.
I had been going to worship every Sunday. Now I am going to worship online.
We no longer make visits to members and others. We do use the telephone for communication.
Nowadays, there are many online worship services and Bible studies. Those who were not very involved now learn to participate online.
We have begun to ask a lot of questions in our online classroom. We are studying the book of Acts together. Everyone has slowly adapted to asking questions and giving answers.
At first, we tried to get everyone together using Skype on our cell phones. That was chaotic. Now we’ve learned to do it better.
Because the schools are not open, some people have to take care of the children and grandchildren at home. That means some Christians cannot participate in Bible studies.
Christians are finding is if difficult to adjust to online worship and Bible if they don’t participate regularly.
What you can do: Ask the Spirit to help Christians around the globe to take full advantage of the opportunities COVID-19 is offering the Church to improve and expand its ministry.
