NEWS//China's civilized internet

According to an article published by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, the nation is determined to build a "civilized internet."

China's Communist Party Central Committee has teamed with the State Council to develop "a more civilized and well-regulated cyberspace environment"

What will a more civilized internet look like?

  • It will be guided by Marxist ideology.

  • It will seek to bring the Communist Party together under a common ideology and will seek to "interiorize" core socialist values.

  • It will provide the Chinese people with a "healthy and colorful cultural life in cyberspace," direct them to higher ethical standards online, and help them behave well online, particularly underage internet users.

  • It will see the government, schools, families and society working together "to educate minors so that they can use the internet properly and be well prepared for online risks."

  • It will crackdown on online bullying among the underage and better protect their rights and interests.

  • It will enjoy a better regulated system of production, publication and distribution of online content and will have mechanisms to stop and prevent disinformation.

  • It will fight online crimes and protect personal information and data security.
