Ministry//An extraordinary gift
Our former liaison, our "bridge" between our ministry and our students in China, received this message last week from a Chinese friend I’ll call Huang Fu.
"Hello! I wish a happy Spring Festival, God's grace be with you! I have arranged the remittance of $5,020. Please ask your accountant to check that it arrived. Thank you very much! "
Gifts to our ministry of $5,000 or more don't happen often.
But this $5,020 gift was even more meaningful to us for two reasons.
A Chinese Christian church leader gave it because he has personally experienced the value of our online Bible institute and has seen its impact on Chinese souls.
By Chinese standards this is an exceptionally large gift. The highest average monthly salary in China is in Shanghai. It is $1200 per month. The minimum monthly salary is $350. That makes a gift of $5000 worth more than four months salary.
When I thanked Huang Fu for his gift, I wrote:
Your gift comes during the time 316NOW is urging American Christians to pray that the gospel reaches more in souls in China. We call this prayer effort 15 Days of Prayer because it takes place during the 15 days of China’s New Year and Spring Festival celebrations. We view your generous gift as evidence that our gracious Father in heaven is acting on our prayers. For that we thank him – and we thank you.
What you can do: You can help make our proclamation of grace across China continue to happen. Give NOW by tapping here.
