MINISTRY//An improbable prayer

MINISTRY//An improbable prayer

One of 316NOW’s online Bible institute professors shares this story of God's grace and power.

 ____________

While traveling on my own in China, I struck up a conversation with a young woman. I hoped to share Jesus with her. I learned she had a Christian grandfather, but she had left behind any faith in Jesus. Before we ended our conversation, she accepted my offer to send her some Christian materials.

Unfortunately, the photo I snapped of her name and address didn't turn out. When I returned home, I only had one clue to reach her. I knew she worked at a beauty shop in a city larger than Chicago.

I mentioned my story to one of 316NOW's Bible institute interpreters who lives in China. She was so taken by my story that she traveled to that city, found the beauty shop, and then found my Chinese friend -- even though she no longer worked at the business.

My friend now has a Bible and a Small Catechism. And a Christian contact in China (our interpreter). Maybe one day she'll attend 316NOW's online Bible institute.

After all, think of the remarkable ways God answered prayers for her. I did not have her name or address. I had no way to return to the city where we met. 316NOW's interpreter did not live in her city. She only had a business name to lead her. The business owner trusted the interpreter, a stranger, enough to provide an address. Our interpreter was able to talk with my Chinese friend and remind her about me. Finally, my friend was willing to receive a Bible and a Catechism.

That all seems improbable. But our Savior-God doesn't deal in probabilities. He acts. He makes events happen in power and in grace.

What you can do: Pray that the Chinese woman 316NOW’s professor met grows in faith in Jesus and shares her faith with her friends and family.
