MINISTRY//Double blessings

In addition to our faculty of pastors for our online Bible institute, 316NOW has several Bible studies that are led by Confessional Lutheran women for Chinese Christian women. Below, one of those Bible study leaders writes about her experience. 

When I was young, I loved going through Chinatown in San Francisco, my Dad’s birthplace. I admired their culture’s hard work and art and attention to detail. I dreamed someday of actually seeing China. I have not had that dream fulfilled but God has given me the privilege of teaching God’s word to my Chinese sisters.

I was immediately awed by their eagerness to learn God’s Word, despite the physical peril it puts them in. Every one of my dear sisters in China prays every week for so many of their family members to come to faith. Those two huge things against their faith, the government, and their own families, do not defeat the Spirit’s power in their lives. Instead, it draws them to the grace of Jesus. I am humbled by their hunger to know God in his Word.

Many of the students in my class are leaders in their Christian congregations. What they learn of the truth and grace of God in our Jesus is multiplied as they teach and evangelize to the people in China.

It has been such a personal blessing to me to teach my sisters that do not enjoy the freedoms and wealth that I do. It makes me realize all the more how Jesus is our everything. He is our wealth and our power and our reason for life!

What you can do: As the Spirit works through 316NOW, he not only brings blessings to souls in China. He blesses those who are teaching those souls. Please, take a moment to thank him for those double blessings.
