DEVOTION//Meeting God – Certain or Fearful
You will meet God
Someday, God and you will look into each other’s eyes. None of us knows the day or hour, but the truth is that we will meet God.
There are two things to know about meeting God that will take away any terror.
Jesus’ birth, life, crucifixion, death, and resurrection were his gift to us. By all which Jesus did, he earned for us and gave to us forgiveness and perfect hope. When we bow before God, because of Jesus, we can be certain of having a good and joyful reunion with him.
Because of the great blessings Jesus has given us as gifts, we want to live for Jesus and with righteousness, even though we will fail. Living for Jesus fills our hearts with joy and strength because Jesus is the king in our daily life.
What if your debt disappeared?
As an example: Immense debt can crush families. Yet, we easily obtain huge debt. We like to have nice and new things, so we charge them. Each purchase doesn’t seem too big, but cumulatively, they crush us.
If you are one of those families that has a great load of debt, then you may dream of having that debt just disappear.
What if you were so fortunate that your debt was canceled? You would be thrilled.
A bigger question is, how will you live your life now that the debt is gone?
Will you live as you had and begin to accumulate more huge debt?
Or will you change your spending habits and limit your debt?
Our heaviest debt is gone
Our huge debt of sin and death has been paid by Jesus.
Now how will you live? No longer as you had lived, right? You’ll live with God and godliness in mind. Yes, you will still sin, but, as God’s child, you will strive to live a godly life because Jesus has canceled your debt.
All of us Christians want to amend our lives to show the spirit of Christ Jesus in us – to show his same love of God, his same love for his Word, and his same love of people.
Meet God without fear
All of us will meet God. You will meet God!
You do not need to be filled with fear.
Meet him with the knowledge of Jesus as your Savior.
Meet him with a godly heart, with love and reverence.
Meet him with a life of humility and repentance.
Meet him with a life of service.
Because of Jesus, this song is our song:
Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come and has redeemed his people. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David … to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness before him all our days (Luke 1:68,69,74,75).
