DEVOTION / Can you see the end of the line?
A long waiting line
Want to buy season tickets to Green Bay Packer games at Lambeau Field?
Get in line. A long, long, long line.
140,000 fans are on a waiting list for season tickets. The stadium has 81,441 seats. Those 140,000 fans won't get to the head of that line any time soon.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette reported earlier this year about Cory Vogel of Green Bay. His parents put his name on the waiting list when he was 2. He’s 51 now. This year his name finally came to the top of the list. After 49 years, this is the first season he has owned season tickets.
No waiting line
Unlike waiting for season tickets to Packer games, there is no waiting for God's grace. There is no waiting to be assured of not just a season in heaven but of an eternity in heaven.
God's grace is available to everyone. Today. At this moment.
The ticket that opens heaven to us comes without cost to us. The cost has been paid by God himself, the God who left heaven to become one of us, to live a perfect life for us, to die a hell-filled death in our place.
Whom will you tell about these free tickets to heaven? Who in your life needs to hear the Spirit's invitation, “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost" (Isaiah 55:1).
For whom with you herald the good news, along with the Apostle Paul, "As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For he says, 'In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.' I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:1,2)?
