Football season lament
From Pee Wee leagues to professionals, America is in the heart of football season. Teams are chalking up wins and losses as they strive to "leave it all" on the field.
Can anyone relate to a daughter's exasperated plea: "Stop it! All you guys do is talk football!"
Her brothers and dad were recounting the excitement and big plays of her brother's last game.
"I'm so sick of hearing about your team and all the plays! You don't even get along with a bunch of those guys!"
Being a team
Her brother was quick to answer. "You're right -- they aren't my best friends or anything. But we're on the same team and we all come together to try to do our best."
Dad chimed in, "That's what being a team is about -- supporting each other and working together even if you sometimes have different ideas."
In a small way, that can be what it is sometimes like sharing the message of Jesus with different cultures around the world. 316NOW has embraced the challenge of reaching out to millions of Chinese souls wherever they may be.
Wisdom from Galatians
Galatians 3:28 reminds us that we are "all one in Christ Jesus" (NKJV). When it comes to sharing God's Word, cultural differences may divide us or create some obstacles. Still, we need to remember that we're on the same team. We all know Jesus as our Savior and have received forgiveness for our sins through him. Together, we're working to tell others about Jesus and share his great love with the world despite language and cultural barriers.
Around the world
The 316NOW effort is made up of countless "teammates" who know that Jesus is their Savior and the Savior of the whole world. Jesus loves all of us, and he leads us to love each other. Let's work together as teammates to serve Jesus and tell others about him.
Prayer thought
Lord of the Church, through the ages your children from the many nations of the world. Your people have shared your message of salvations to the corners of the earth. Help us to work together for the growth of your kingdom in China and around the world. Bless our efforts dedicated in love to you. Amen.
