"Please plan to visit our group as soon as possible."

Forging hot steel

That was the recent plea from one of the groups of Christians 316NOW works with. The group had just finished a class on Genesis and were immediately starting our course of the life of Christ.

Our faculty members, of course, are not able to travel to China. China does not welcome Western Christians who seek to help their citizens grow spiritually. But we have a Lutheran pastor in China who serves as our liaison. After Covid restrictions lift more, he will be able to travel and represent 316NOW to the groups we serve.

Our liaison says, "This group now, I think, is growing healthy. In Chinese we say, forge the steel when it is hot. Now, especially, is the time to stand with this group."

Creating a Confessional Lutheran movement

Forging the hot steel will allow 316NOW to make progress toward our ultimate goal: helping to raise up a Confessional Lutheran presence in China.

This is the strategy: Our online Bible institute leads students toward a clearer understanding of the Scriptures. From there, our Mentoring and Consulting Division works with individual leaders and their groups to equip them to form Lutheran house churches.
