DEVOTION / Ingratitude vs in gratitude
Ingratitude vs In gratitude.
Ingratitude. In gratitude.
There's only a small difference between "ingratitude" and "in gratitude".
Of course, I'm not talking about the meaning of "ingratitude" and "in gratitude". There's a 180 degree difference there.
The grace space
I'm looking at the way "ingratitude" and "in gratitude" sit on a page -- or in this case on your screen. There's only a small difference. A space. A fraction of an inch. A couple of millimeters.
I'd call it the space of grace.
What transforms a life filled with ingratitude into a life lived "in gratitude"? A space filled with grace. God's unimaginable, immeasurable, undeserved love for human beings who can't help but dishonor him.
Grace is greater
When grace wedges itself between the "n" and the "g" of ingratitude, transformation occurs. There God's undeserved love reminds us, no matter what loss we face, grace is greater. There God's stunning love reminds us, no matter the darkness we are feeling our way through, grace is greater. There God's limitless love reminds us, no matter how immobilizing the hurt, grace is greater.
It must be greater. The resurrection of Jesus -- the resurrection that belongs to us -- has triumphed over all sin, over death, over hell.
In those times when ingratitude demands dominance in your thoughts, use grace to destroy its power. Insert the space of grace and transform ingratitude into living in gratitude.
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly…singing to God with gratitude in your hearts (Colossians 3:16).
