MINISTRY / Huge prayers for China

MINISTRY / Huge prayers for China

I didn't expect to hear how big his prayer for China was.

An unexpected prayer

I had the privilege of preaching at a mission festival that featured 316NOW a week ago. After the service a man shook my hand and thanked me for my message and the gospel-sharing work of 316NOW. What he said next took me aback.

"I pray for China every day," he told me. That didn't surprise me. I've met hundreds of Christians who pray for the spiritual wellbeing of the people of China. I was surprised by what he said next. "I pray that the president of China would become a Christian."

Talk about a huge prayer! What a difference it would make for Chinese Christians, for China, and for the world if a Christian President Xi influenced his nation to be transformed by the gospel rather than directed by communism.

But not an impossible prayer

Such an answer to prayer would not be unique, however. In 312 Roman emperor Constantine, a former pagan, became a Christian. Prompted by his faith in Jesus, Constantine began to transform his empire from paganism to Christianity.

God has the power and willingness to answer big (seemingly impossible) prayers. Paul assured the Ephesians that our Father "is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think…” (Ephesians 3:20). He is willing to use his exceeding abundant power to benefit his Church because his Son is the Savior of the world.

Would you join me in adding this Christian brother's pray to your own?
