DEVOTION / Baptism and prayers
Church leaders and their families are not immune to urgent admission to Intensive Care.
An invitation to faith
Recently, the young nephew of one of our students was admitted to ICU because he seemed to be losing his battle with leukemia. Our student, Disung, quickly made his way to the hospital. He shared with his nephew the good news of God's grace in Jesus. He had done this before. This time, he heard his nephew confess faith in Jesus.
"Would you like to be baptized?" he asked his nephew.
"Yes," was the answer. Disung quickly found water. He reminded his nephew of the treasure of adoption into God's family that comes with water and the Word. And then the Spirit used Baptism to assure Disung's nephew that he had become a son of the eternal God and Disung's eternal brother.
A request for prayers
Would you include Disung's nephew in your prayers? Certainly ask God for health, but, more importantly, ask the Spirit to continue to keep him close to his Savior. You see, this young man does not come from a Christian family. His family does not understand his new faith. Ask the Spirit to also bring his parents and other relatives to faith.
Those are big prayers. But we have a big God. For him, nothing is impossible.
