MINISTRY / A visit with a school because of its extraordinary gift

We had never done this before. We'd love to do it again. And again.

An online school visit

Last week, without leaving home, I visited a Lutheran elementary school that is 120 miles away from my house. Our liaison, a Lutheran pastor in China, also visited from over 7,000 miles away!

We came to the school's weekly chapel service over the internet. The students were able to see and hear us. We were able to see and hear them.

A thank you for an extraordinary gift

We came to their school to thank the students for an extraordinary gift to 316NOW.

The students adopted 316NOW as its mission project for the first half of the school year. They gave their weekly mission offering to help us share Jesus with Chinese people. And they did more. One of the things they did was participate in a walk-a-thon. The students invited church members and friends to contribute a certain amount of money for every mile they walked. That meant not only the school children, but hundreds of others learned about 316NOW and helped to grow our ministry.

In January, 316NOW received the students' gift. By far, it was the largest gift we have received from a school. The students gave $7,145!

A report from our liaison

Our liaison shared with the schoolchildren what it's like to be a Christian in China. He talked about his ministry with 316NOW. He showed them photos of his congregation. They got to meet his son. And he answered their questions. For example, have you ever been in danger because you are a pastor? What will 316NOW use our donation for?

An invitation

We would love to visit your elementary school, Sunday school, or Bible study. Tap here to set that up.
