MINISTRY / An Easter baptism brings double joy
The leader of one of our groups of students celebrated the baptism of her granddaughter on Easter.
A confession of faith
That is special news because children are infrequently baptized in China. There are two reasons. First, the Chinese government forbids evangelizing anyone under 18. Second, the official Protestant church in China doesn't teach its members to baptize children. For this family to baptize their child means they took a stand for the Scriptures and against Chinese law and the practice of the authorized church in China.
A Confession of fellowship
Another reason for celebration stands out. The children of the leader of our group of students have joined the Confessional Lutheran church where the granddaughter was baptized. Our leader had to travel some distance to attend the baptism but she was pleased to know her children's church believes and teaches the same truths she has learned from 316NOW. At 316NOW, we are pleased to collaborate with sister Confessional Lutheran churches in China.
Travel update
Last week's blog post featured good news about travel opening up within China. Here’s an update:
Later this week, our liaison and three others will travel to a fourth destination where we have a group of students. We appreciate your prayers for their safe travels and for the Spirit's blessings on their meetings.
