MINISTRY / More interpreters; more capacity to serve

Our liaison emailed us with welcomed news. He has found three qualified interpreters for our online Bible institute courses. 

Three more interpreters

The courses we teach — at no cost — to Chinese church leaders require interpreters. Although three of our professors are able to speak Mandarin, the remaining 15 faculty members cannot. Without interpreters to translate what they say into Mandarin — and to translate what they say as they say it -- our courses would not be possible. 

An uncommon skill set

Interpreting for our classes requires an uncommon skill set. Our classes focus on the study of the Bible and theology. That means our interpreters need a specialized vocabulary to match those topics.  They also must be able to translate shades of meaning. For example, Lutheran theologians know there is a substantial difference between God declaring us holy in Jesus and his making us holy.  

Yes, it is welcomed news that 316NOW has three more interpreters to help us share God's Word across cultures. 

An expectation of growth

And there's another facet to that good news. With an additional three interpreters, we expect that the Spirit is about to add more students to our classes. The logic is: he's increased our teaching capacity, he must be about to increase the number of students we reach.
