Ministry / Board meeting highlights #4: Big challenges, but a bigger God
A bigger invitation
"When I became the executive director for 316NOW in 2023, I was excited about leading an organization that was having a gospel impact on China," says Pastor Mark Wagner. "I had no idea that God had even bigger plans for 316NOW."
316NOW's board meeting in early June celebrated ways the Holy Spirit is inviting 316NOW to expand its ministry.
Our training of Mainland China Christians to become house church leaders has grown as 316NOW has partnered with other Confessional Lutheran groups in China.
The online Bible institute has experienced a 15% increase in new students this year.
The institute is now training deaconesses to assist house church leaders in shepherding and growing their groups.
316NOW is learning how to invite Chinese Christians who live outside of China to take advantage of our Bible institute.
A bigger resource challenge
“God is urging us to think bigger about proclaiming his grace across China and beyond China," Wagner says. "That means he will also provide 316NOW with the resources we need to take those steps. Adding more volunteers and increasing our funding seems daunting right now, but we trust that the grace that made our North American friends his children will also prompt them to join us in bringing Jesus to increasing numbers of Chinese people.”
