Ministry / The police detained them
"The police took them to the station."
Our liaison in China sent us that news in an urgent email in which he requested our prayers.
He described how police detained a group of deaconesses and a house church elder at their local police station. They were questioned about their relationship with other Christians and American Christian groups. The police asked specifically about Confessional Lutherans from the United States that 316NOW works with. The police searched their social media accounts for the names of people they were communicating with.
These Christians were not arrested and jailed. The purpose of the interrogation was to frighten them into breaking contact with Western Christians. These Christians can expect to be under police surveillance for a long time.
"Pray for them," our liaison pleads.
Please do that. Add your prayers to ours. Especially ask for God's grace to give courage to these believers and all who trust Jesus as Savior in China.
