DEVOTION / Bibles from China?

QUESTION:  Any guess where the largest Bible-printing factory in the world is located?

 ANSWER:  In Nanjing, China -- northwest of Shanghai. One company there has produced over 130 million Bibles since its founding in 1987 and adds millions each year. The Bibles flow to places around the world – Germany and Europe, South America, and Africa. Reportedly, they print Bibles in 90 foreign languages as well as Mandarin, Cantonese and other Chinese dialects. Their high-speed presses produce up to 70 Bibles per minute!

Unrecognized Power…

Aren’t you struck by the irony of this?

In a country that is officially communist and atheistic, God is able to be spreading His Word to the nations. Consider what the Lord tells us about his Word not returning empty, but accomplishing what he pleases (Isaiah 55:11).

·       Hebrews 4:12: For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

·       Proverbs 30:5: Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

·       2 Timothy 3:16-17: All Scripture is God-breathed…

·       Psalm 119:105: Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Sovereign over Nations

While finding millions of Bibles being “made in China” might appear ironic, the Bible clearly teaches that our Almighty Lord is sovereign over all nations and all rulers, directing their hearts and actions to fulfill His purposes. Daniel 4:17 declares that the most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to whom he wishes.  From this unlikely source – in a land whose government does what it can to suppress the Gospel of Jesus – Bibles are flowing in the hands of people hungry for the Truth. Praise the Lord!

Our Prayer

Lord God, in a country with a government that seeks to suppress your Word and to put up obstacles to knowing the Truth found only in you, light can still be found. Help us to shine the Light of Jesus in the darkness and bring countless souls to forgiveness and hope through the power of your Spirit.
