15 Days of Chinese Celebration; 15 Days of Prayer for American Christians

15 Days of Chinese Celebration; 15 Days of Prayer for American Christians

It’s February 8th.  Our Bible studies for Chinese Christian leaders are on break.  Few would attend if we held our classes.  Our online faculty meeting is deferred to late February.  The reason: our Chinese presenter is visiting her parents.

A Time for Celebration

In China hundreds of millions are traveling.  Travel over the fifteen day New Year and Spring Festival holiday has been called the largest annual human migration in the history of the world.  Many go home to visit relatives.  More and more Chinese families flock to tourist attractions and tropical beaches.

For the Chinese celebrating the New Year and Spring Festival marks a new beginning.  It is a time to literally clean the house and figuratively clean their lives.   It is an occasion to rejoice in family and friends and to renew those relationships.

A Time for Prayer

That makes these 15 days a poignant time for Christians to pray for the gospel’s spread in China.

In Jesus God offers the people of China an invitation to come home, to him.  Their Father wants them to know he has loved them so much he sacrificed his Son to make their adoption possible.  In Jesus God guarantees he has cleansed them so thoroughly no sins remain ... ever.  In Jesus God makes sinful people into new creations.

So 316NOW is urging Christians to pray during these fifteen days (February 8-22).  We trust God will keep his promise to hear and act on our prayers.  Jesus makes it so.   "I will do whatever you ask in my name," he says, "so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it" (John 14:13-14).
