MINISTRY//15 Days of Prayer
316NOW’s 15 Days of Prayer effort begins on February 1. The timing is excellent.
Internet restrictions
China has passed a law that will prohibit any religious content from appearing anywhere on the internet inside the country. The only exception are those Chinese religious organizations that are registered with the government and that promote communist ideology. Enforcement of this law begins on March 1. For more information read our blog post from last Friday, January 7.
Questions
These new regulations have left 316NOW -- and many other Christian groups -- to wrestle with a number of questions.
Will China be able to lock up its internet so tight that we can't teach and consult online?
If we can continue to have online contact with Chinese Christians, what harm may come to them?
How will God show his power, his grace, and his glory in this challenge to his will?
How will this reshape our ministry?
What new forms of ministry is the Spirit about to open to 316NOW?
Answers
Though we don't have clear answers to these questions, the Lord of the Church has known those answers for a long, long time. There is no need for handwringing.
Here’s why:
The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations (Psalm 33:9-11).
Pray
Join us in prayer over these increased obstacles to proclaiming grace across China NOW. But start with praising our Epiphany Savior for his infinite love, power, and wisdom. No opposition can stand against his plans. Our God is always greater. Always.
