New challenges and new opportunities: Mentoring and consulting
"Our God is greater" has been 316NOW's byword, a continuing reminder that our power to proclaim grace across China has nothing to do with us and everything to do with God's mercy and strength.
This blog post and the four posts that are paired with it examine the ministry plans 316NOW has prayed over and committed to during its 2023-24 fiscal year.
The challenges are beyond our abilities. But not beyond our Father's ability. Not beyond the resources that he has already given us, you, and the rest of his family who partners with 316NOW to bring his grace to the people of China.
Plans for the 2023-24 fiscal year
Jun Hie (not his real name) leads one of the house churches that looks to 316NOW for training and spiritual care. He is not trained as a pastor, but, in his church of two dozen people, he isrecognized as the shepherd. 316NOW provides Jun Hie with one-on-one mentoring. We also act as a mission counselor to his house church.
Raising up church leaders in China
316NOW's Mentoring and Consulting Ministry (MCM) stands alongside the church leaders and their churches that the Spirit raises up through our ministry. We personally help them apply the lessons they have learned in our online Bible institute to their unique situations.
Our liaison is a key component in the Mainland China side of MCM. Our liaison is a Chinese pastor who lives in China. He serves as the ambassador between us and our students. He recruits new students for our Bible institute. He stays in continuing contact with our students -- online and in person. And he serves as a trainer and encourager to our Chinese brothers who lead house churches. His travels are taking him to many places in China, a country the size of the United States.
Raising up church leaders in the U.S.
As the Spirit blesses expatriate outreach, we will also have Chinese house church leaders in the United States to mentor and house churches to consult with. (Learn more about our expatriate outreach here.)
"316NOW's Mentoring and Consulting Ministry is central to everything we are doing to proclaim grace across China," says Jim Aderman, the Executive Director. "Everything our Bible institute does prepares our students for MCM. Our goal is not only to provide our students with solid Lutheran teaching. Our goal is to unleash those students for gospel ministry. MCM equips them to make that transition."
